Types of Incontinence
Do you leak urine when you lift heavy objects, cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise? If so, you are not alone. This is known as stress urinary incontinence.

Have you stopped taking part in exercise programs, trips, or family gatherings because you cannot control your bladder or make it to the bathroom in time? This is known as urgency incontinence or overactive bladder. This occurs when your bladder muscle contracts too often or involuntarily, resulting in an uncontrollable leakage of urine.

Overflow incontinence is when the bladder does not empty fully and urine dribbles out. Also, the bladder may never feel completely empty.

A combination of more than one type of incontinence that occurs at the same time is called mixed incontinence.

The Continence Center of Western New England offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of urinary incontinence in women and men. There are many ways to manage and, in some cases, stop the incidence of urinary leakage. We offer the treatment you need to control your bladder so you can have a more normal and active lifestyle. The first step is...
